This past month I took a big step. I signed up for the gym and a personal trainer. The reason for this is simple: I am one of the weakest people (physically) that I know. I have known for most of my life that I have little to no upper body strength, but it wasn't until my first session that I became aware of the fact that in fact, my whole body strength-wise is pathetic.
So far, I can only bench the 30lb bar, while the normal bar is a solid 45lbs. My trainer is optimistic and says that I should be able to do 5 REAL push-ups in about a month. As of now I can do about 8-10 girly ones... You have to start somewhere, right?
It is a goal of mine to start running again. However, due to the fact that my muscles might as well be made out of rubber bands, I need to build up my lower body muscles to protect my leg bones from over-use injuries. Hopefully by the time the snow melts in Minnesota, I'll be strong enough to start training for the 2013 Run or Dye 5K in Minneapolis.
